The Career Development Program Coordinator Sr. will support career development services for students and industry partnerships for the newly-founded College of Engineering, Informatics, and Applied Sciences (CEIAS) at Northern Arizona University (NAU). This position will report to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for CEIAS, but will also work closely and in partnership with academic unit chairs and directors, professional staff, faculty, and students in CEIAS and across the University. Building and sustaining collaborative relationships with industry partners will also be a key element of this position.
* Occasional travel and night and weekend work may be required in this positon.
The position’s duties include:
Foster and maintain positive relationships with industry partners and coordinate their visits and speaking engagements with CEIAS faculty and students.
Assist in identifying and coordinating internship opportunities for CEIAS students, including opportunities across disciplines.
Organize and support on-campus student interviews with industry partners.
Provide support for CEIAS students and industry partners at the NAU Career and Graduate School Fair and other College-specific events.
Coordinate and support collaborative career development opportunities with other University units.
Offer workshops and presentations on topics that assist students in their professional development, including job application materials preparation and communication skills.
Undertaking projects and tasks as directed in support of career development and/or CEIAS operations.
NAU is currently engaged in an Organizational Growth and Effectiveness Initiative, which focuses on positioning the University for future success of its operational practices. As a result, some aspects of this position may be subject to change, such as, but not limited to: duties, titles, reporting structure, etc.
Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the scope of duties AND four years of progressively responsible experience in university-industry relations;
OR Master’s degree in a field appropriate to the scope of duties AND two years of experience in university-industry relations;
Eight years of progressively responsible administrative/ coordinative program experience; OR,
OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated success in the coordination of career development services in a higher education institution.
Familiarity with academic programs and relevant areas of professional practice in disciplines represented in CEIAS.
Demonstrated ability to successfully interpret administrative and programmatic processes and policies, particularly in event planning.
Successful record of working independently and being self-directed in prioritizing and accomplishing assigned tasks.
Excellent skills in communication in speech and writing.
Experience in effectively working in a team with people from diverse backgrounds.
