Road Scholar is an educational travel program targeted toward older adults. Over 200 offerings are run yearly with destinations throughout the Southwest. To meet the travel needs of our itineraries, the program operates two 45 foot motor coaches. The successful applicant will be the principal driver for the program as well as the supervisor of the bus operation. Driving trips typically begin with pickups in the Phoenix and Las Vegas area and proceed to National Parks and Monuments of the area. 25% of trips include one to three day excursions from Flagstaff, while 75% require extended durations of up to 14 days at a time. Road Scholar will pay for food and lodging for all trips that require overnight stays. Each trip will have a program coordinator on board the bus who will be in charge of trip logistics and the clients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the maintenance, appearance, supplies, and safety of the coaches. This includes but is not limited to scheduling maintenance appointments, ordering parts and equipment as needed, making small repairs when able, particularly pertaining to interior components of the coaches, and working with the program Director as needed to remove the bus from service as needed for maintenance.
Responsible for staffing and supervising part-time drivers addressing issues related to the condition and issues of our busses and insure that follow up action is taken in a timely fashion. Will be available for these drivers while they are on the road in event of emergency maintenance issues.
Keep daily maintenance log for the two busses and work with the AZ Dept. of Transportation (ADOT) to insure the busses pass their annual ADOT inspection.
Follow all ADOT bus driver requirements pertaining to pre-trip safety/maintenance inspections.
Drive motor coach for extended Road Scholar educational trips in Northern Arizona, Nevada and Southern Utah territories. Primary destinations include Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce National Parks as well as Monument Valley, Lake Powell and Sedona.
Load and unload luggage as necessary.
Responsible for vehicle upkeep and cleanliness including cleaning and disposing of coach bathroom contents/waste as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

Three years of experience driving buses, trams or passenger vans; or any combination of passenger driving experience , AND,
Possession of a valid Arizona Class D driver's license upon employment; AND,
Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B or C, with updated health card upon employment; OR,
Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Human Resources.
Ability to be away from home for extended days at a time.
Attention to customer service/personal appearance and must be a team player.
